What is an end table?
An end table is a super helpful, usually small table that lives at the side of a seat in your home or patio. An accompaniment of style and a bullwork of functionality, these tables have a place in most every room and are a simple and affordable way to fill out your seating arrangements, as well as create opportunities to place lighting, and an occasional ornament or tchotchke - if you so have a prediction for a little flare around the house.
To end the debate, size truly matters.
In true Goldilocks fashion, you will want the size that is “just right” for your seating, specifically in terms of height. You can get away with a little deviation, but when it comes down to it, you will want your end table to be as close to the height of arm rest on your sofa, loveseat, armchair, or recliner, as possible. So, when it comes to seamlessly reaching over for your beverage, book, or eyeglasses, you can do so with grace and ease.
How to use the end all, be all, of tables.
End tables are often placed on the arm's edge of a couch, or sofa, to provide an easy place to rest things like a lamp. These tables also make great media tables, corner tables, and nightstands; all friendly places for a cup of coffee and a crossword puzzle.
All the types you could end up with.
Round end tables with their smooth lines generally have a more elegant and ornate style and sometimes come with drawers. Put almost too bluntly, a drawer a good idea if you want to be able to put something inside it - like a remote control, or a sodoku puzzle book, or mail you have not opened yet. We don’t recommend you making your end table draw, your junk drawer, but it does happen, we won’t judge. Square end tables are very common and come in a variety of styles. C-shape, media and “over-arm” type tables are a style that is designed to hang over a part of the couch, or your lap, so that you have more space at hand in which to work off of. They are great for working from home or making a work or crafting space where there usually might not be any. Contemporary, industrial, modern and mid-century pieces are just some of the styles of end table we feature here at Aosom.
