Finding the Right TV Stand

Over the years, TVs have become lighter and skinnier, but we aren’t sure that “smaller” is the right word for it. The TV still remains an important part of many family rooms, living rooms, entertainment rooms, and bedrooms. The right stand is an integral part of aligning your TV in a place that serves the room both when it is turned on, as well as when it is turned off. Aosom’s great selection of furniture will provide you with many great options to both house your TV and help your room look better, as well as save your wall from the damage of a wall mount. This guide will help you get started with some tips and tricks on what to look for in a stand, also called a TV console, and how to fit that into almost any room.

What size is your TV?

A great place to begin is with measuring your TV. Note three measurements: the height, the width, and the diagonal across the screen. When you are shopping for a TV stand and see a dimension that says, “Fits up to a 42” TV”, the 42” is the diagonal measurement of your screen.

Arranging your room

After you have the size of your stand determined, you can select a space in the room that will accommodate your TV stand. Think about the sources lighting both in the room and from windows. Placing your TV in front of a window is generally a poor idea. The same goes for placing it in front of any large light source and will make it more difficult to see the screen. Another aspect that can impact where you choose to place your stand is if you plan on running any cabling to speakers or other devices in other areas of the room. If so, consider a location that makes running your wires the most convenient. Many of the stands from Aosom have cable routing as a design aspect, which makes cable management a lot easier. If you plan on having a lot of components with your TV, make sure to get lots of storage and a unit that can accommodate the cabling, as well.

Couch and chair placement

A good rule of thumb is that the larger your TV screen, the further away your seating arrangement should be. When it comes to the TV height, ideally, you should make the center of the TV at eye-level when you are seated on your sofa or chair.

Is your TV on the wall? Well, you might benefit greatly from a TV stand below it. It will provide a great place to store your blue ray player, streaming device, audio receiver, and gaming console. Placing a stand below your wall mounted TV can be a great looking solution to neatly organize and keep all your audio and video gear in place.
